ORDINANCE NO. 2024-24
AN ORDINANCE RE-NAMING FIRST DRIVE N.E. TO SCHUMACHER DRIVE UPON PETITION OF KAREN SCHUMACHER
WHEREAS, the Council of the Village of Tuscarawas has been provided with a Neighborhood Petition from Karen Schumacher, sponsored by Council President Mike McConnell, to rename First Drive N.E. to "Schumacher Drive" within the Village; and
WHEREAS, said Petition was signed by ten (10) neighborhood residents, listing names and addresses, who are in favor of the name change, a copy of which is attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, said Petition includes a statement in support of the re-naming which addresses Phil Schumacher's commitment to the Village and his accomplishments therein, a copy of which is also attached hereto.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TUSCARAWAS, OHIO, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The official street name of First Drive N.E. is hereby changed to "Schumacher Drive" beginning at Main Street and ending at Donehue Lane.
SECTION 2.
The Village Administrator is hereby authorized and ordered to remove the First Drive N.E. street signs and install signs reflecting the name "Schumacher Drive" along the segment of street referenced in Section 1 and those signs shall meet the current edition of the Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Devices.
SECTION 3.
The Village will file a certified copy of this Ordinance with the official records of the Tuscarawas County Recorder and notify the Tuscarawas County Sheriff s Office of the street name change.
SECTION 4.
This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
